Head coach Thomas Tuchel acknowledged that Chelsea were long overdue a clinical performance as they eased past Leeds United on Wednesday night.
Needing a victory to move to the brink of Champions League qualification, Chelsea posted a 3-0 victory in the Premier League courtesy of goals from Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku.
While the Blues were helped by the first-half dismissal of Daniel James, Tuchel was left impressed with the ruthlessness of his team, a trait which they have not always shown in recent games.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Tuchel said: "We needed a performance like that. We deserved to win. That's the best message. We were excellent right from the start and kept our focus and high intensity.
"We cleared the air after the late equaliser against Wolves. We knew what was waiting. We had a lot of reason to trust ourselves. The players delivered. Full credit to them.
"We arrive [to the FA Cup final] with a clear mindset because we did what we needed to do this week. Good news."
However, Chelsea were handed a blow when Mateo Kovacic was injured by the tackle which saw James handed a red card, Tuchel saying that the Croatian is 'very unlikely' to feature in Saturday's FA Cup final.
