Chelsea are allegedly still contemplating whether to bring in Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico as a replacement for the injured Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea are reportedly still giving consideration to signing Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico during the January transfer window.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel has known since the turn of the year that he will be without Ben Chilwell for the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury.

At a time when Tuchel has tried various alternatives in the wing-back role, the Blues have also attempted, without success, to recall Emerson Palmieri from his loan period at Lyon.

According to TyC Sports, the European champions are yet to dismiss the possibility of signing Tagliafico before the end of the month.

While the report says that Chelsea are yet to make a formal bid, the Argentina international is a realistic option with less than 18 months remaining on his contract.

Ajax are said to be ready to entertain bids in the region of £6m with the 29-year-old no longer first choice at the Dutch giants.
