Sheffield Wednesday have entered the race to sign Chelsea skipper Gary Cahill on a free contract, according to a report.
The 32-year-old confirmed last week that he will consider quitting Stamford Bridge in the New Year after falling down the central-defensive pecking order under Maurizio Sarri.
Cahill has been used for a combined 21 minutes across Chelsea's first seven games this season, and with his contract due to expire next summer, he is free to discuss terms with foreign clubs from January.
According to The Sun, however, the ex-England international also has options at home, as Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have joined Watford and Aston Villa in declaring an interest.
The boyhood Owls fan is said to prefer a Premier League move, though, and he will first hold out for any concrete offers from top-flight sides in the coming months.
