Martin Keown believes that Roy Hodgson should hand Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham an England lifeline.

Former England international Martin Keown believes that Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson should consider recalling midfielder David Beckham.

The 37-year-old, who has a contract at Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the season, recently insisted that he won't give up on representing his country

"Under pressure against Montenegro, England struggled to hold on to the ball," Keown wrote in his Daily Mail column. "Beckham would be perfect to bring on in a situation like that and keep possession."

Meanwhile, the French press criticised Beckham's performance during Tuesday night's 2-2 draw with Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
