Roy Hodgson: 'We have learned a lot'

England boss Roy Hodgson reveals that he was pleased with what his side learned from playing a different style of opposition in their World Cup warm-up matches.

England boss Roy Hodgson has revealed that he is pleased with the way his side have adapted their game to play against Latin American opposition.

The Three Lions were unbeaten in their three World Cup warm-up games against Peru, Ecuador and Honduras as they prepare to take on Costa Rica and Uruguay in their Group D matches.

Hodgson told reporters: "How to cope against Latin American teams is something which we probably have learned.

"The whole idea of playing Peru, Ecuador and Honduras was to show us something very, very different compared to playing teams like Sweden or Norway, where we'd know exactly what we were going into.

"This is something different, the culture in those countries is a different culture and I think we've had a nice little taste of it."

England open their campaign against Italy on Saturday.
