Roberto Martinez left fuming over Connor Wickham decision

Everton boss Roberto Martinez slams referee Lee Mason for not sending Connor Wickham off in the 1-1 draw away to Sunderland

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has hit out at referee Lee Mason for not dismissing Connor Wickham in today's 1-1 draw at Sunderland.

Wickham conceded a penalty on 76 minutes for hauling down Seamus Coleman, with Leighton Baines converting from 12 yards to rescue a point for the Toffees.

However, the young striker escaped even a yellow card, and Martinez claims that Everton should have faced 10 men for the final 14 minutes.

"Sunderland were effective from dead balls, but I was disappointed a penalty did not follow a with a red card for Connor Wickham," he told BBC Sport.

"One thing is whether you agree with the law or not, it's a clear penalty and it should be a red card. There's no argument.

"The law is very clear, it should have been a red card."

Sebastian Larsson had fired Sunderland into a second-half lead with a free kick.
