Everton's newly-appointed boss Roberto Martinez reveals that he will seek advice from predecessor David Moyes.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that he will seek advice from his predecessor David Moyes.

The Spaniard, who took over at Goodison Park this week, admitted that he would be "foolish" not to consult with the Manchester United boss about his new role.

"I'd be foolish not to take that opportunity," The Sun quotes Martinez as saying. "I have real respect for David, what he achieved here is something I admire.

"I wouldn't want to be so cheeky as to do it without him offering but I will definitely be doing so now he has. I will be picking his brain on everything."

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright, who maintained a close relationship with Moyes, said that the Scot is only too keen to offer his words of wisdom to his successor.

He said: "David and I talk all the time. He talked to me last night from New York and said, 'Tell Roberto I am here for him'.

"He remembered what it was like coming from Preston and it is not dissimilar."

Martinez joins Everton from Wigan Athletic, with whom he lifted the FA Cup but failed to save the club from relegation to the Championship.
