French defender Philippe Mexes has claimed that his team deserved their 2-0 win over Group D rivals Ukraine at Euro 2012 on Friday.
Jeremy Menez and Yohan Cabaye were both on the scoresheet for Les Bleus as they recorded their first win of the competition in Donetsk.
"We created doubts thanks to our pressing," Mexes, who nearly found the net with a header in the first half, told RMC. "The attackers were the first defenders.
"We stayed focused, it was essential and I think with the rigour that we had this evening, the result was deserved."
The French can seal their place in the quarter-finals with a win against Sweden on Tuesday.
