Rene Meulensteen: 'We have to believe against Manchester City'

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen feels that his side have to believe they can beat Manchester City to haul themselves out of trouble this season.

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen feels that his side have to believe that they can beat Manchester City in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Cottagers have dropped into the relegation zone after losing three out of their last four games, but Meulensteen believes that a win over the Citizens can be a springboard to further success.

He told reporters: "The key is that we focus on what is right in front of us. If you start looking ahead, you lose focus and by tomorrow, quarter to five, you then think we could have done better, we could have got something out of this game, because you lost the focus.

"We know we have a massive task in front of us. It doesn't matter who you are playing in this situation. It can be a trigger for a great motivation because teams in the bottom three have picked up points against teams nobody expected."

Fulham are 19th in the Premier League after taking 13 points from their 16 games.
