Bastian Schweinsteiger has called on Germany to produce a performance worthy of World Cup winners against Australia on Wednesday.
Joachim Low's side host the Socceroos in Kaiserslautern as they continue their preparations for the Euro 2016 qualifier with Georgia at the weekend, and Schweinsteiger is keen for the world champions to prove their quality in the friendly.
"It's not easy to play against Australia. Obviously they'll try to frustrate us, and they're confident after winning the Asian Cup as well. But we're keen to show we're the world champions. We've got a team with not only great quality but also great character," the Bayern Munich midfielder, who will captain the team for the first time, told reporters.
"This team has great character. I'm trying to lead the way, but we need 11 captains out there on the pitch."
Germany have won only three of their six games since the World Cup.
