Benedikt Howedes not getting carried away

Germany defender Benedikt Howedes is eager for his team not to get carried away by their emphatic win over Brazil in the World Cup semi-finals.

Germany defender Benedikt Howedes has urged his teammates not to get carried away by their World Cup semi-final thrashing of Brazil.

Die Mannschaft face Argentina in the final tomorrow night having destroyed the hosts in Belo Horizonte last week.

However, left-back Howedes is certain that the Germans still have plenty of work to do before they are crowned champions.

"Many people are giving us slaps on the back and we love the compliments, but we can't make the mistake that it's already over, far off it," he told FIFA.com.

"People are saying in Germany that the title is almost in our pocket, but the Argentinians will fight to take the title home. We'll have to do all we can to make sure that doesn't happen."

Howedes has featured in all six of Germany's games so far at the World Cup.
