Interim Gillingham manager Peter Taylor has made clear his intention to lead the club in a full-time managerial capacity as the Gills consider a replacement for Martin Allen.
Allen was sacked last weekend with the club having won only a handful of their opening 11 matches in League One this season.
"I'm sure Paul has been inundated with agents and CVs," Taylor told Sky Sports News.
"I think he just didn't want to make another long-term decision at the moment so he asked me if I'd be prepared to go in there short-term, which I am. I'm very happy to do that and I want to be doing well to throw my name in the hat."
The Gills currently find themselves 18th in the League One table.
