Chris Powell has revealed that he is "honoured" to have been appointed Huddersfield Town's new manager.
The 44-year-old former Charlton Athletic boss signed a rolling contract with the Terriers on Wednesday.
Despite Huddersfield currently sitting one place above the relegation zone in the Championship table, Powell is hopeful of turning the team's fortunes around.
"I am honoured to be chosen to lead Huddersfield Town forward. I was very impressed by their vision," he told reporters.
"It's been a tough two seasons but we want to be a good, competitive side in this division. It's a tough league, it's relentless, very intense.
"It's something I'm looking forward to, all I can say is my team will compete and will be full of character, honesty and make each other and the town proud."
Huddersfield resume their Championship campaign on September 13 when they entertain Middlesbrough.
