Nigel Pearson: Leicester City 'deserved to beat West Ham United'

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson believes his side "deserved to win" after beating West Ham United 2-1.

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson was glad that his side were able to come out on top against West Ham United today after enduring a "frustrating time" recently.

Substitute Andy King's late winner gave the Foxes a 2-1 victory over the Hammers in which Esteban Cambiasso scored from long-range before Cheikhou Kouyate equalised for the Hammers after David Nugent missed a penalty.

"We've had a bit of a frustrating time," Pearson told BBC Sport. "We've been involved in some entertaining games, but when you come out on the receiving end, it tests your resolve.

"We deserved to win today. In the first half, we got off to a good start but missed a penalty. The players had a moment of doubting themselves, and it allowed West Ham to have a dominant spell.

"But we did a good job of taking the initiative, and we deserved to win the game. We hope today's a start of different fortunes for us, but it's one game in isolation."

Leicester City are currently bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety.
