Jordan Henderson 'facing 12 weeks on the sidelines'

Liverpool and England midfielder Jordan Henderson is reportedly facing 12 weeks on the sidelines with a groin injury, putting his Euro 2020 hopes in doubt.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is reportedly facing 12 weeks on the sidelines with a groin injury and has therefore emerged as a doubt for this summer's European Championships.

The 30-year-old was forced off the field just 30 minutes into last weekend's Merseyside derby with Everton.

A recent report claimed that the England international was facing 'several weeks' on the sidelines with the groin problem, which is more serious than initially thought.

According to The Sun, Henderson will learn by the end of Wednesday whether he needs surgery on the injury, which could end his season and leave him battling to be fit for Euro 2020.

The report claims that the midfielder would not be able to return to full training until the end of May at the earliest if the results reveal that he needs an operation.

Henderson has largely operated as a centre-back for Liverpool in recent months due to the club's injury problems in the defensive area.
