Philippe Coutinho vows to give his "maximum" to Liverpool after a move to Barcelona fell through this summer.

Philippe Coutinho has stressed that he remains fully committed to Liverpool after failing to secure a summer move to Barcelona.

The Brazil international handed in a transfer request but the Reds rejected three bids from the Blaugrana, the final offer believed to have been worth up to £118m.

Coutinho missed the start of the season with a back complaint, but was passed fit to play for his country in their World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Colombia in early September.

The 25-year-old has since returned to form for the Reds, scoring in the 3-2 Premier League victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium and the 1-1 draw with Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.

"I'm calm. It's all passed by," Coutinho, who has started the last three games for Liverpool, told Sky Sports News. "I'm here to defend the colours, to give my maximum."

Coutinho has played 186 games for the Merseyside giants since his January 2013 move from Inter Milan, scoring 44 goals and claiming 38 assists in the process.
