Simon Mignolet hails "important" victory

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet describes his side's 3-0 victory at Southampton as an "important" result in their quest for the Premier League title.

Simon Mignolet has described Liverpool's 3-0 victory at Southampton as an "important" result in their quest for the Premier League title.

The Reds ran out comfortable winners at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday and moved to within four points of leaders Chelsea.

"The result we got was very important for us. It was very pleasing to score three goals and keep a clean sheet," Mignolet told the club's official website.

"We did really well away to Southampton, who are a team that score easily and have got a lot of threats up front. We dealt really well with that. We're very pleased with the result and now we can look forward to the last 10 games of the season.

"We all have happy faces now before we go off for the international break. Then we can go again after that."

Liverpool are back in action on March 16 when they travel to bitter rivals Manchester United in the league.
