Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad reportedly put forward an offer to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah this summer.

Al-Ittihad have reportedly set their sights on signing Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah this summer.

Just over 13 months ago, Salah agreed to pen a new long-term contract at Anfield, committing his future to the club until the end of 2024-25.

The Egypt international subsequently went on to record 29 goals and 15 assists in all competitions during what was a disappointing campaign for Jurgen Klopp's side.

While Liverpool remain in a strong position to retain his services for the upcoming season, it is no secret that there is interest in his signature from Saudi Arabia.

Reports have indicated that the general consensus is that proposals will arrive from the Saudi Pro League in 2024, a time when Liverpool would realistically have to make decisions regarding how they handle the prospect of a Salah exit.

However, the spending spree that is occurring in that division has led to the league becoming far stronger than many anticipated at this stage of its development.

According to Arriyadiyah, Al-Ittihad are making every effort to sign Salah before the end of the summer transfer window.

The report suggests that negotiations between the league champions and Salah have already commenced, with the 31-year-old seemingly in line to receive an offer more lucrative than the majority of players who have already moved to the Middle East.

Salah may allegedly receive €90m (£77.6m) per season across a two-year contract, according to sources speaking to Al-Riyadiah.

Furthermore, it is claimed that Liverpool would be presented with an offer of £60m to cash in on Salah, a figure that will likely be rebuffed.

Liverpool have already witnessed Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leave Merseyside for Saudi Arabia for a combined total of £52m, while Roberto Firmino has moved to the same location on a free transfer.

Klopp is yet to acquire replacements for each of the aforementioned two midfielders, while another central forward may be on his radar if an opportunity presents itself.

Salah has given no indication that he would consider leaving Liverpool at this stage of his career, with interest being shunned from European clubs last summer in order to extend his contract.
