Liverpool agree to sell Japanese forward Takumi Minamino to Ligue 1 outfit Monaco for €18m (£15.5m), according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed to sell forward Takumi Minamino to Monaco for €18m (£15.5m).

The 27-year-old has failed to nail down a regular place in Jurgen Klopp's starting lineup and featured in the first XI only seven times across all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign.

While Sadio Mane is set to leave the club and join Bayern Munich, the arrivals of Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho – along with the January addition of Luis Diaz – are set to push Minamino further down the pecking order.

Despite reported interest from Fulham, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in Minamino, BBC Sport claims that Liverpool have reached an agreement with Monaco to sell the forward this summer.

The report adds that the Ligue 1 outfit are set to pay €15m (£12.9m) up front, with a further €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons.

Since joining Liverpool from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020, Minamino has scored 14 goals and registered three assists in 53 appearances across all tournaments.

The Japan international struggled to contribute to Klopp's side in the Premier League, but his exploits in the domestic cups will be remembered by the Anfield faithful, as he recorded seven goals in eight appearances to help the Reds win both the FA Cup and EFL Cup in 2021-22.
