Liverpool are reportedly considering letting go of a number of first-team players as well as search for new additions in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to offload a number of first-team players in the January transfer window and replace them with new talent.

The Merseyside club have a depleted squad following a number of summer departures as well as the temporary exit of Andy Carroll, who has been loaned out to West Ham United for the rest of the season.

It is understood that manager Brendan Rodgers is open to letting Stewart Downing, Joe Cole and Jordan Henderson leave the club after failing to make an impact in the first team since Rodgers's arrival in the summer, according to the Irish Independent.

Reports have claimed that the Premier League outfit will let a number of players speak to other clubs about a possible Anfield exit but the club's American owners are also thought to be willing to offer funds for new additions.

The Reds lost Fulham forward Clint Dempsey to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the summer window due to reported issues over the fee.
