Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester City finally get their Premier League campaign underway on Monday evening as they square off against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite bowing out of the Champions League on the same week as their next opponents lost out in the Europa League, City were provided with an extra three days off.

However, Pep Guardiola's side must now face Wolves at a time when Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit will already have two competitive games under their belt.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the visit to Molineux.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Aguero has been on the sidelines since undergoing knee surgery towards the end of June. While City were said to be hopeful of a return against Wolves, Guardiola has revealed that the Argentine may remain absent until November.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Bournemouth)

Having tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month, Laporte has been forced to spend a period in self-isolation. Although the Frenchman is close to fulfilling the necessary obligations, he will not be involved on Monday.

Riyad Mahrez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: September 21 (vs. Wolves)

Like Laporte, Mahrez has been adhering to the same restrictions since earlier in the month. Providing that all protocols have been completed, the Algerian should feature in the squad.

Bernardo Silva

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Quadriceps
Possible return date: September 21 (vs. Wolves)

Bernardo sustained a quadriceps injury while representing Portugal last week, putting his participation in this game in some doubt. If some of his other injury doubts pass fitness tests, Guardiola may opt against taking any risks on the playmaker.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

City have no suspension concerns heading into the meeting in the West Midlands.
