Report: Manchester City not pursuing Didier Drogba

A report claims that Manchester City are not planning to challenge Chelsea for Didier Drogba's services, despite speculation to the contrary.

Manchester City reportedly have no interest in signing free agent Didier Drogba.

Recent speculation had claimed that the English champions had identified the 36-year-old as the ideal striker to fill the void left by Alvaro Negredo, who will spend the next few months on the sidelines with a foot injury.

However, should City manager Manuel Pellegrini move to replace Negredo, Drogba is not a player that he will pursue, according to The Guardian.

Drogba is expected to re-sign for Chelsea, where he previously spent eight years following his arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2004.
