David de Gea says that denying Luis Muriel with a world-class save "was a good moment", as he helped Manchester United to a 0-0 draw away to Sevilla.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has admitted that his teammates have to up their performance levels if they are to overcome Sevilla for a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Red Devils earned a creditable 0-0 draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Wednesday evening, leaving it all to play for in the return leg three weeks from now.

United had De Gea to thank for keeping the scoreline level, as the Spain international produced a string of saves, the most impressive of which saw him deny Luis Muriel from point-blank range late in the first half.

Asked about the reaction stop and what the Sevilla striker said to him at the time, De Gea told MUTV: "He said 'it was a great save', but the most important thing was the result, we didn't concede. Now the result is open we need to play at home at Old Trafford and hopefully we can win there.

"It was a good moment, good save of course, especially because of the moment of the game - the last minute of the first half. It was important not to concede goals. We defended well, I think they had a comfortable game but the tie is open."

United have now kept nine clean sheets in their past 11 matches in all competitions, and 23 overall throughout the season.
