Former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes that Donny van de Beek played a near-perfect game in United's thrashing of Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The former Ajax man was handed a rare start by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Red Devils' midfield, and the manager's selection certainly paid dividends as Van de Beek put in a mature and confident performance.
United took a giant stride towards the knockout stages with a 4-1 victory on their own turf, and Hargreaves has hailed Van de Beek's impact following the Red Devils' dominant display.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Hargreaves said that Van de Beek's display was "close to perfect", with Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Daniel James notching up the goals for United.
Hargreaves also thinks that Van de Beek can look forward to more starts in United colours, adding: "Van de Beek is so unselfish that he can just fit in. I think he's played himself into the starting lineup."
United now have a few days to rest and recover before they travel to the South Coast to take on an in-form Southampton side in the Premier League on Sunday.
