Rafael da Silva annoyed by Champions League exit

Rafael da Silva believes that Manchester United should have gone further than the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League.

Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva has admitted that the club should have gone further than the quarter-finals of last season's Champions League.

The Red Devils were beaten 3-2 on aggregate by the Spaniards following a /footballcontroversial second-leg encounter at Old Trafford back in March.

"It was an amazing season but maybe we could have won against Real Madrid in the Champions League, you know," Rafael told the club's official website. "However, being a champion means that it is a very, very good season.

"That's the mentality. We couldn't win against Madrid and we were disappointed about that but it's okay."

United's last success in the Champions League came in 2008 when they beat Chelsea in the final in Moscow.
