Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that Diogo Dalot was withdrawn during Tuesday's EFL Cup quarter-final with Charlton Athletic as "a precaution".
The 23-year-old was substituted in the 34th minute of the 3-0 victory over the League One outfit after appearing to tweak his hamstring.
Dalot suffered a similar problem while representing Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, which ruled him out of the recent matches with Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ten Hag has calmed the injury fears surrounding the right-back, revealing that his substitution was 'precautionary', and the Dutchman is hopeful that he will be fit for Saturday's Premier League clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford.
"Diogo Dalot went off before half-time. We have to wait, I think it is not serious but it was a precaution to get him off and not take a risk when we have, on Saturday, an important game [against Manchester City at Old Trafford]," Ten Hag told reporters.

"We have to see how it develops in the coming hours and then we have to make a clear decision."
Ten Hag also revealed that the club are "doing some final investigations" into Donny van de Beek's injury, which he suffered in the team's 3-0 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League on January 3.
The Netherlands international had to be substituted in the first half of the clash with the Cherries after suffering what looked to be a serious injury in a challenge with Marcos Senesi.
There are concerns that Van de Beek has suffered a problem which will keep him out for the rest of the season.
"And Donny van de Beek, we are still doing some final investigations and when we have that, we will update you," added Ten Hag following the three-goal success over Charlton.

The Man United head coach was also asked about Wout Weghorst on Tuesday evening, but he refused to comment on the speculation that a move was close.
"No, unfortunately I can't," said Ten Hag in response to a question on the forward.
Weghorst is currently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley, but the Red Devils are working to sign him on loan for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.
Both Man United and the Dutchman are believed to be confident that a deal will go through in the near future, with Besiktas reluctantly expected to end the loan agreement.
The 30-year-old has scored nine goals and registered four assists in 18 appearances for his loan club during the 2022-23 campaign.
