Jesse Lingard: 'Marcus Rashford unfazed by rise to stardom'

Manchester United and England midfielder Jesse Lingard backs teammate Marcus Rashford to continue improving for both club and country after a year to remember so far.

Jesse Lingard has claimed that Manchester United and England teammate Marcus Rashford is taking his rise to stardom in his stride and will not get too carried away.

The 18-year-old has scored four times already this season to add to his nine goals for club and country last term, having only been handed his debut in February.

Rashford's impressive form has seen him nail down a starting spot for the Three Lions' World Cup qualifying games, but close friend Lingard is confident that there is still far more to come from the attacking ace.

"I haven't seen him fazed at all. He's got a love for the game and every day he's got a ball at his feet," he is quoted as saying by The Metro.

"He's still young as well so I think things are coming together for him just right at the moment and hopefully he can carry it on. Over the months he has matured a lot from making his debut to now. He's gained a lot of experience at international level and in the Premier League and other competitions.

"He's coming along nicely now but we can't forget he's only young. He's still going to grow and he's still going to get bigger. We'll have to wait and see what he does after that."

Lingard, himself a starter for England in their meeting with Malta, has made four appearances for United this season in all competitions.
