Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that Matteo Darmian is more than capable of covering for the injured Antonio Valencia.
The 31-year-old Ecuadorian had been an ever-present for the Red Devils but faces six weeks on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a fractured arm.
Mourinho told a press conference on Wednesday: "Valencia's is a bad injury, he has a fracture in his arm, and he's had surgery. He will be out for a while.
"The good thing is even when Antonio was playing very well we were preparing Darmian and he was having matches to develop himself.
"When, in the last match, we had to play Darmian for the first time in the league, he was ready to answer and played very well. We trust him totally."
Darmian moved to Old Trafford from Torino in a £12.7m deal in 2015.
