Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill backs Manchester United to win the Premier League title due to their attacking options.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has backed Manchester United to win the Premier League this season due to the plethora of attacking options avilable to them.

Both Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney were on the scoresheet as O'Neill saw his Sunderland side beaten 3-1 by Sir Alex Ferguson's men earlier today, and the Northern Irishman reserved special praise for the duo.

O'Neill believes that United's ability to score goals will set them apart from the rest, providing their top players stay fit.

"Robin van Persie was a great purchase," said O'Neill.

"It means Manchester United are capable of scoring goals because Wayne Rooney is a top quality player as well.

"Whilst their main players stay fit Manchester United are capable of winning the league."

The result restored United's six-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, while Sunderland remain just one point clear of the relegation zone.
