Sergio Romero wants David de Gea to stay at Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero says that he would like to see rival David de Gea remain at the club.

Sergio Romero has stated that he would like to see fellow Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea remain at the club.

Romero has become the first choice at Old Trafford this summer amid the uncertainty over De Gea's future with the Red Devils.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with Real Madrid, but Romero has said that he wants his rival to stay.

"For me, I hope that De Gea stays here because I am learning a lot from him and he's a great teammate," the Argentine told Onda Cero.

"It's surprising that [Victor] Valdes and De Gea aren't playing, both have won everything and are great professionals."

Romero joined United from Sampdoria earlier this summer.
