Mikel Arteta 'given three games to save job as Arsenal line up Massimiliano Allegri'

Arsenal chief Edu gives head coach Mikel Arteta three matches to save his job, according to a report.

Arsenal chief Edu is reportedly prepared to sack head coach Mikel Arteta and replace him with Massimiliano Allegri if the team's results do not improve in the near future.

The Gunners have made their worst start to a league season for almost 40 years, having picked up just 13 points from 11 matches to sit down in 15th position in the table.

According to Calciomercato, Arteta must pick up positive results in the next three top-flight fixtures against Burnley, Southampton and Everton in order to keep his job at the helm.

The report claims that Edu is ready to make a decision on the Spaniard's future if the team's struggles continue, and Allegri is being lined up as a potential replacement.

The 53-year-old has been without a position since leaving Juventus in May 2019, although he continues to be linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United.

Allegri won five Serie A titles during his time with the Old Lady, while he has also managed the likes of Sassuolo, Cagliari and AC Milan.
