Ansu Fati signs a new six-year contract at Barcelona with a €1bn (£843m) buy-out clause.

Ansu Fati has agreed a new six-year contract at Barcelona.

With the Catalan outfit still struggling with financial problems, there had been rumours that the 18-year-old would depart the Camp Nou next summer.

Manchester City and Manchester United both reportedly failed in moves to sign Fati in the summer and he has been in negotiations with Barca over a new deal for the last few weeks.

Now the club have confirmed that the Spanish international will stay in Catalonia until 2027, with his new contract including a €1bn (£843m) buy-out clause.

Fati becomes the second Barcelona player to agree a new deal with a €1bn release clause, following in the footsteps of Pedri.

The Guinea-Bissau-born forward became the second-youngest Barca player when he made his debut aged 16 years and 298 days and he has since made 48 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals.
