Dean Henderson 'wants first-team assurances to stay at Manchester United'

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson wants guarantees of regular first-team football to stay at Old Trafford, according to a report.

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson reportedly wants to be assured of the number one spot at Old Trafford before committing his future to the Red Devils.

Following an impressive stint on loan at Sheffield United, where Henderson has kept 13 clean sheets during the 2019-20 Premier League season, the 23-year-old is expected to be in high demand this summer.

Henderson is set to return to Man United in time for the 2020-21 campaign, and according to The Times, the Englishman is hoping to oust David de Gea as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first-choice goalkeeper.

De Gea has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons on several occasions this season - most recently coming under fire for his performance in United's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea, where he let Mason Mount's long-range effort slip through his hands in the second half.

Henderson supposedly believes he has done enough to warrant the number one spot at Old Trafford, but the report claims that the shot-stopper will seek another loan move elsewhere if he is not guaranteed regular first-team football next season.

Chelsea are rumoured to be keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Henderson's future ahead of the summer transfer window.
