Manchester United reportedly drop their asking price for Jesse Lingard to £20m amid firm interest from West Ham United.

Manchester United are now prepared to accept a fee of £20m to sanction Jesse Lingard's exit, according to a report.

The England international was barely given a look-in under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the first half of last season but notched up nine goals and five assists for West Ham United during a memorable loan spell.

The Hammers have made it publicly known that they are keen to welcome Lingard back to the English capital, although Solskjaer affirmed in pre-season that the attacker was a part of his plans.

However, The Express claims that West Ham are refusing to give up their pursuit of Lingard, and the Red Devils' asking price has now dropped from £30m to £20m.

The report adds that West Ham are preparing to table a second offer after seeing their first bid for the 28-year-old rejected, and they remain confident of securing his signature within the next couple of weeks.

Lingard is now in the final year of his Man United deal and missed his side's 5-1 victory over Leeds United after testing positive for coronavirus.
