Manchester United 'eye £9m Mario Mandzukic move'

Manchester United are eyeing a £9m January swoop for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to launch a January bid for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic.

The Red Devils were linked with a swoop for the Croatian in the latter stages of the summer transfer window after allowing Romelu Lukaku to complete a big-money move to Inter Milan.

Mandzukic ultimately remained with Juve, but the 2018 World Cup finalist has not played a single minute of football for the Old Lady this season, and he is widely expected to move on at the start of 2020.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that his team want to sign a new striker after also allowing Alexis Sanchez to move on before the end of the European transfer window.

According to Goal.com, the 20-time English champions are considering a mid-season move for Mandzukic, with the 33-year-old expected to be available for around £9m.

The experienced attacker has scored 44 times in 162 appearances for Juve in all competitions but is not in the plans of new head coach Maurizio Sarri.

Seventeen-year-old Mason Greenwood is expected to lead the United line against Arsenal on Monday night, with both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the sidelines.
