Manchester United could be ready to end their pursuit of James Rodriguez, as it is reported that it would cost £36m to release the winger from his contract at Porto.

Manchester United could be ready to end their pursuit of Porto winger James Rodriguez.

Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of Rodriguez, but the Scot has previously admitted that the 21-year-old's asking price is too high.

According to the Daily Mail, the release clause in Rodriguez's contract was recently adjusted from £24m to £36m.

Rodriguez has scored five goals in eight Primeira Liga appearances this season.
