Report: Southampton captain Jose Fonte wants Manchester United move

Southampton captain Jose Fonte reportedly wants to join Manchester United this month.

Southampton captain Jose Fonte is reportedly keen to join Manchester United before the end of the month.

The 32-year-old defender is believed to be wanted by Jose Mourinho, who is said to be eyeing a £10m deal.

Fonte, who helped Portugal win their first ever European Championship crown earlier this summer, has told friends that he wants to test himself at a bigger club, according to the Daily Star.

Arsenal are also thought to be interested in Fonte, but it is understood that United are leading the race, particularly as the defender's agent Jorge Mendes also represents Mourinho.

The report adds that United are willing to part with Marcos Rojo in the deal.
