Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Aston Villa.
While remaining at Old Trafford ahead of the new campaign, Rojo allegedly does not feature in the plans of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, leading to interest from elsewhere.
Everton are said to be monitoring the situation having failed with a bid for Chris Smalling, although it appears that they may have to move fast to sign the Argentina international.
According to The Sun, Villa are considering an approach, despite having already made 12 additions ahead of their return to the Premier League.
However, it remains to be seen whether Villa would be prepared to pay the fee of in the region of £25m for the left-footed player that United are seeking.
The 29-year-old made just six appearances for United in all competitions during the last campaign.
