New York City FC boss Patrick Vieira has revealed that he turned down the chance to become Saint-Etienne's new manager during the summer.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Vieira was the favourite to replace Christophe Galtier as head coach of the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 41-year-old has now confirmed that he had the opportunity to manage the European club, but felt that "it was not the right time" to leave his project at New York City FC.
Vieira told RMC: "It's true, but I considered that it was not the right time, because I am very happy at my club."
Vieira, who represented the likes of Arsenal, Juventus and Inter Milan during a glittering career as a player, was a coach at Manchester City before taking charge of the Pigeons in 2016.
