David Villa has claimed that he has no problem with Frank Lampard delaying his move to new MLS franchise New York City FC.
The former England international was due to join up with the American club in January, but instead opted to extend his loan deal at Manchester City until the end of the Premier League season.
Last night, New York played their first ever game and came away with a 2-0 victory over St Mirren in a friendly in Manchester City's Academy Stadium.
"It would have been great if he was here now, but obviously for the football club the best thing is for him to stay in Manchester," Villa told reporters.
"We are only going to be focused to work hard so that when he joins in July, we can be a team that is really good and he can only improve us."
Villa was the club's first signing.
