Luuk de Jong has insisted that Newcastle United have the players to fill the void left by Loic Remy's absence ahead of the meeting with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
French striker Remy will miss the game due to a calf injury but De Jong believes that Newcastle cannot use his absence as an excuse.
"Of course, Loic is a good player," the 23-year-old, who joined the club on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach in January, told journalists. "Also, Mathieu [Debuchy] – who is not there – is a good player as well.
"But we've got players who can fill in as well. We have to work hard in training again.
"We can't always depend on them, but they are good players, and you will always miss good players."
Newcastle have not scored in any of the six games Remy has missed in the Premier League this season.
