Newcastle United midfielder Matty Longstaff has reportedly told the Magpies that he wants to leave the club this summer, after a broken promise from Steve Bruce.
The 21-year-old only made five Premier League appearances this season despite manager Bruce reportedly promising the youngster more game time.
It is believed that Longstaff is frustrated at his boyhood club and will ask the club to step aside and let him go if a reasonable offer comes to the table for the midfielder.
Football Insider reports that Longstaff turned down offers which would have seen him leave the North-East last summer and instead he signed a new two-year deal.
The report suggests that several senior players within the Newcastle camp were surprised by the club's decision to block a loan move for the youngster back in January.
Longstaff burst onto the senior stage in his Premier League debut for Newcastle in 2019, when he scored a 72nd-minute winner against Manchester United at St James' Park.
