The hosts took the lead in the 14th minute when Wes Hoolahan did well to set up Anthony Pilkington, who took a touch before lashing the ball into the roof of the net.
Pilkington almost doubled his tally when Ali Al Habsi tipped the ball into his path, but this time he just couldn't direct his effort on target.
Al Habsi was involved again just before the interval as he was forced to save Robert Snodgrass's headed effort.

Grant Holt almost gave the Canaries a perfect start to the second half when he sprinted on to a long ball, but Al Habsi was once again equal to the eventual effort.
Wigan found the equaliser five minutes after the restart, Shaun Maloney blasting his shot past Mark Bunn from the edge of the box.
Norwich restored their lead 15 minutes later, however, as Pilkington stood up a cross to Hoolahan, who rose to net a rare headed goal.
Wigan couldn't find a second equaliser in the closing stages as Norwich held out to claim all three points.
