Portugal defender Pepe has claimed that he is 'saddened' by Friday's 3-3 draw against Israel in World Cup qualifying.

The Portuguese were 3-1 down in Tel Aviv before late goals from Helder Postiga and Fabio Coentrao salvaged a point for the visitors.

"We wanted to win, we are sad, we had the conditions," Pepe told abola.pt. "The most important thing is that we are in the competition to fight.

"I am part of the Portuguese national team and want to be at the World Cup. We will do everything to be there - now we must learn from mistakes."

The draw has seen Portugal remain in third place in Group F with five games left to play.
