Paris Saint-Germain defender Maxwell has admitted that the prospect of making his Brazil debut at the age of 31 has come as a genuine shock.
The full-back was named in Luiz Felipe Scolari's Brazil squad for the friendly against Switzerland on August 14, after being virtually ever-present for PSG last season.
He told Ligue 1's official website: "I am very happy, but also a bit surprised. I just want to make the most out of this experience.
"It's always easier when you have teammates in the national team, like Lucas Moura and Thiago Silva. That will help me settle quickly.
"I will be playing alongside some great players, most of whom are friends and I will try to give it my absolute best."
Maxwell should start at left-back for PSG tomorrow in Laurent Blanc's first competitive game in charge against Bordeaux in the Trophee des Champions.
