Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has urged the club to buy "the right characters" this summer if they want to thrive in the Premier League.
The R's secured their promotion back to the top flight last weekend with a last-gasp win over Derby County in the Championship playoff final.
Barton now wants QPR to bring in players who still have plenty to offer instead of those who are not committed to the cause.
"It's important that the right characters come to this football club now," he told QPR's official website. "This can't be a place where good footballers come to die anymore. Those days are gone.
"The club's tried that and it hasn't worked. No one likes that, no one wants that. This club now has to kick forward. We have to make sure that we're in the Premier League for a long time to come."
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes recently claimed that the club were looking to sign "four or five" players before the start of next season.
