Rangers chief executive Charles Green made a public thank you to Rangers ahead of today's 5-1 win over East Stirlingshite at Ibrox.
49,118 fans packed inside the stadium, eclipsing all other attendances in Scotland and beating the combined total of all five SPL matches.
Green came out onto the pitch to personally thank the fans for their loyal and continued support, despite dropping down to the Third Division in Scotland.
"In addition to a sell out today, we had 40,000 at our League Cup game against East Fife and we have sold over 33,000 season tickets – that's not bad for a Third Division club," said Green.
"We will have the highest attendance in Scotland today and one of the highest in the UK as the English Premier League starts and that is testament to the passion, loyalty and commitment shown by the Rangers supporters and we thank you all.
"Over 33,000 season tickets have been sold in the last two weeks and that is a phenomenal total. Few clubs in the world could count on that kind of support and on behalf of everyone at Rangers, I can't thank you enough."
Rangers are currently top of the Third Division after today's impressive win.
