Rangers have reportedly lined up a move for midfielder John Lundstram, who left Sheffield United as a free agent at the beginning of July.
The 27-year-old was reportedly targeted by the Glasgow club for the first time last year, and Steven Gerrard is said to have renewed his interest with Lundstram now available on a free transfer.
The former Everton man's contract expired at Bramall Lane in the summer following their relegation to the Championship, and he was a regular feature in the Blades side, playing in 28 games in the 2020-21 Premier League season.
With his time in South Yorkshire now finished, Lundstram is reportedly close to a move to Ibrox, after Rangers lifted the Scottish league title last season for the first time in 10 years, and the 55th time in the club's history.
According to the Daily Mail, the Scottish giants are now strongly considering a swoop for the Liverpool-born midfielder.
However, they could face competition from several English clubs who are also keeping tabs on the former Oxford United captain, who scored five Premier League goals in the 2019-20 campaign as the Blades finished ninth.
Having also captured former Bournemouth midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh on a pre-contract agreement, the Gers are reportedly set to further add to their midfield ranks, which already contain the likes of Steven Davis, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara.
