Karim Benzema's record vs. Sevilla

Sports Mole looks at Karim Benzema's record against Sevilla ahead of Saturday's La Liga contest in Madrid.

Karim Benzema will be looking to continue his fine start to the 2021-22 campaign when he leads the Real Madrid line against Sevilla on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old has been in strong form for Los Blancos this season, finding the back of the net on 15 occasions in 17 appearances in all competitions, in addition to contributing eight assists.

In La Liga, Benzema has 10 goals and seven assists in 12 outings, although he has only registered in one of his last four appearances in Spain's top flight.

Real Madrid are currently top of La Liga, two points clear of third-placed Sevilla, ahead of Saturday's mouthwatering contest between two of the biggest clubs in the Spanish capital.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Benzema has fared against Sevilla in the past.

Benzema has faced Sevilla 25 times during his Real Madrid career and boasts a strong record against them, winning 17 times, drawing twice and losing on just six occasions.

The Frenchman has managed nine goals and 10 assists against the Seville-based outfit, meanwhile, with the majority of the fixtures taking place in Spain's top flight.

Benzema has faced Sevilla twice in the UEFA Super Cup, though, helping Real Madrid win 2-0 in August 2014 and 3-2 in August 2016, while he has also been victorious in two of his previous three Copa del Rey encounters against the Red and Whites, scoring twice in the process.

The forward's La Liga record against Los Nervionenses, meanwhile, is 13 wins, one draw and six defeats from 20 matches, while he has scored seven times and provided nine assists.

That said, Benzema has only actually scored in one of his last nine league meetings against Sevilla, which came in a 1-0 victory at Estadio Ramon during the 2019-20 campaign.

The France international helped Real Madrid secure four points from their two La Liga fixtures against Julen Lopetegui's side last season, though, and he is unbeaten against them in the league since September 2018.

Benzema starred against Sevilla during the 2011-12 La Liga season, scoring twice and providing four assists in the two league fixtures between the two teams.

However, arguably the striker's best ever performance against the 1945-46 La Liga champions came in October 2013, when he scored twice and contributed two assists in a 7-3 victory at Bernabeu.
