Real Sociedad beat Deportivo La Coruna 1-0 to secure a Champions League place next season and relegate their opponents.

Real Sociedad have claimed a place in next season's Champions League after a 1-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

The result also means that Deportivo are relegated from La Liga on the final day of the season.

After narrowly missing a couple of early chances, Antoine Griezmann gave Sociedad the lead, scuffing a close-range finish in off the post.

It could have been 2-0 just 10 minutes later when the Frenchman found Carlos Vela free in the box, but somehow the Mexican managed to fire over the crossbar after controlling the ball well.

Vela again missed a good chance after half time, curling the ball just wide after Imanol Agirretxe's headed down.

His misses didn't matter in the end, though, as Sociedad held on to claim an unlikely Champions League spot.
